mental health matters so damn much
Over the last 3 years I’ve been deeply affected, deeply moved by mental health crisis, and I know that i’m not alone in that. Somewhere at the intersections of pandemic strife, mental health driven violence, unaddressed or under-addressed illness, disinformation gone wild, (yoga teachers are Qanon??) and the collapse of communities and identities - I’ve had by heart broken many times. This phrase, “The New Age Broke My Heart” and design emerged as a commemoration of what’s gone, what’s here and what good we can do when we take care of mental health - ours and theirs.
A portion of merch sales will go to Mental Health America. (from their website) (MHA)'s work is driven by its commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; integrated care, services, and supports for those who need them; with recovery as the goal. With your help, we can change the trajectory of thousands of lives before a crisis - before stage 4.
The B4Stage4 Philosophy
Much of MHA’s work is guided by its Before Stage 4 (B4Stage4) philosophy – that mental health conditions should be treated long before they reach the most critical points in the disease process. When we think about diseases like cancer or heart disease, we don’t wait years to treat them. We start before Stage 4—we begin with prevention, identify symptoms, and develop a plan of action to stop and hopefully reverse the progression of the disease. Like other diseases, it is critical to address symptoms early and plan an appropriate course of action on a path towards overall health.
